So this week has been just what the doctor ordered. I LOVE teaching, there's nothing I'd rather do, but I also love being able to use summer to map out all the ideas I came up with during the year. So, as crazy as it sounds, I've spent a good amount of time on my laptop since my break started. Actually, the more I think about it, it probably doesn't sound that crazy to you guys.
Before I tell you about my week, I have to tell you that my best blogging friend Jessica is having a HUGE giveaway! She has officially been on her blog and TPT for a year. Honestly, I know sometimes some people probably think, "Oh, I don't think I'm going to do this because I don't want to follow anymore people." Here's my favorite thing about her giveaway. It is LOADED with people that you probably already follow. I went checked it out and she truly got the best of the best. So, click on the button and go check it out - you won't regret it!
The first thing I did is I downloaded ALL my clip art. I love my clip art friends, but I wish they wouldn't make so many cute things. By the time I added all of it to my Gallery, I had over 12,000 pieces of clip art. Yep! I have an addiction... I gave up Coca Cola and to replace the caffeine, I now collect clip art. Honestly, each bunch costs around the same as a pack of Cokes or less, so it's an even swap (That's what I'm telling myself).
Then, I HAD to get my files organized. I feel like I have no idea where everything is because it is all jumbled together. Oh, and I'm not even talking about my school files. I'm talking about the files on my Mac. That is the ONLY thing I miss about having a PC. It was much easier to keep files organized. So, I came up with a system the last few days. My favorite system is the one I came up with for my blog files. My freebies and some of my other files have been getting mixed up, so from now on I am using my Google account only for my blog. Plus, I added dates to the front of each of my items. This way, if you guys ever have an issue downloading, you can tell me the date I wrote the blog and I can work on it immediately. I took a picture of it for you guys because I figured it may be an idea you can use. I also do this with parent notes, newsletters, etc.
I've also been watching EVERYTHING I eat and I (drumroll please) started working out this week. People, if I checked Web MD I'm certain it would tell me I'm dying. That is just how sore I am. However, I know it will pay off, so the soreness is definitely worth it.
Now, since I'm telling you about eating healthy, I thought I'd show you one of my new favorites. I'm not going to say it is the perfect recipe, but it has to be pretty close. I grabbed lettuce, chopped up a whole tomato, added just a little cheese, and then added a secret ingredient. I took Granny Smith apple slices and cut them into little pieces. I'm funny about textures, but this salad had the perfect texture and taste. I ended up eating this with shrimp one night, but it would also taste great with grilled chicken.
Okay, now for my newest obsession - Washi tape! I don't know if you guys have seen this yet, but it is pretty cool. It is very thin tape that you can use to decorate notebooks, cards, etc. The sad thing is I have this obsession because the tape is so neat, but I haven't made anything with it yet. I have had so many other things going on that I have not had a chance to play with it. However, I still had to show you my collection. I will definitely be collecting more. Oh, and if you think it is awesome then look at Michael's and Hobby Lobby for it. You can also find tape at
www.downtowntape.com. A friend told me about it and the tape is a little bit cheaper and there are a few more patterns.
Last, but not least I decided to sign up for the Creative Cloud. If you are a teacher, you get a HUGE discount and the best part is you get access to every Adobe thing you can imagine. I have been dying to start creating some of my own clip art. I don't want to sell it, but I want to know I can depend on myself if I need something specific and I can't find it. So, I'm starting with PhotoShop. Hopefully with this book I will figure out what I'm doing.
Alright, time to go decorate, play, and have some fun with my crazy Washi tape. Hope you guys have a great night!
Oh, and if there are any freebies you need, let me know. I have no idea what to create right now when it comes to freebies.
You are so organized! My digital files are a mess! :( I love all your freebies and have been using them! We are still 'schooling'. Perhaps you can come up with word problems for addition and subtraction within 20? Enjoy summer! :)

I love the worksheet ideas :) I'll work on it tomorrow :)
DeleteSummer is a great time to organize our things. I need to back up all my clip art. I don't have quite as much as you do. I am sure with time, I will have quite a collection. Have a great summer!

I think last summer I had a total of 200 pieces of clip art. I try to set an allowance for myself each month for just clip art :)
DeleteI'm obsessed with the fancy duck tapes as well. I saw a great pin for using the tape to make mini leveled reading books. I'm not sure if you have a readinga-z.com account in your district, but I've been printing the leveled books and am using the different apes for each reading level. I think the kids will be excited to read the books along with getting some fun prints as the move up in levels.
ReplyDeleteI know EXACTLY what you are talking about and I'm planning to do the same thing :) Reading A to Z is incredible isn't it?
